Calhoun County students in 6th through 8th grades recently had the opportunity to participate in the Ninth Annual Art in the Capitol Competition. The statewide visual arts competition was created to inspire students across Florida to showcase their creativity and is open to all Calhoun County public, private and home-schooled students. Twenty-one students from our school district submitted their original artwork for judging. Blountstown High School garnered the first and second place winners this year with the third place winner representing Altha School.  Allie Mercer in 6th grade was recognized as our district’s first place winner. Her original art, titled "Be Yourself," will be showcased later this school year in our Florida State Capitol. 6th grade student Bellami Holliday earned second place with her artwork titled "Pinky" showcasing a girl in a dress. "In The Woods" completed by Ava Bigham was our third place winner. Congratulations to each of these artists.
