Art in the Capitol

Calhoun County students in 6th through 8th grades recently had the opportunity to participate in the Seventh Annual Art in the Capitol Competition. The statewide visual arts competition was created to inspire students across Florida to showcase their creativity and is open to all Calhoun County public, private and home-schooled students. Eight students from our school district submitted their original artwork for judging. Carr Middle School students’ submissions garnered all district awards this year. Emmalyne Gentry in 7th grade was recognized as our district’s first place winner. Her original art, an intriguing pencil creation, will be showcased later this school year in our Florida State Capitol. 8th grade students Zenna Riyadhi and Julieanna Wilkerson earned second and third place awards. Congratulations to each of these artists. Pictured from left to right: Emmalyne Gentry, Zenna Riyadhi, and Julieanna Wilkerson.
